It’s January. Most people are making resolutions right about now, or at least slowing down long enough to reevaluate their situation so as to better plot out a course of action that allows for personal betterment in the months ahead. Along those lines, we’d like you to think about transforming those crooked or gapped teeth that you’ve been putting up with for all these years. You know, the ones that have put a cap on your self-confidence and created more than a few embarrassing moments in your life.

If you should decide that you would like to work on improving the health and appearance of your lackluster smile in this new year, then Drs. Wilfred and David Miyasaki would love to discuss the possibility of an Invisalign alternative orthodontic treatment with you: Invisalign aligners. Keep reading to learn more about this amazing system, and then give our Honolulu, HI dentist’s office a call at 808-797-3680 to make the first move toward a better quality of life. Invisalign Works Differently Than Braces

In case you haven’t heard, Invisalign uses a series of plastic aligners rather than stark metal braces (replete with brackets and wires). The aligners are created especially with your mouth in mind. Each aligner in the set is designed with high-tech modeling to keep your teeth moving in a positive direction.

Beginning with your first aligner, the Invisalign system will gradually start pushing your teeth into a straighter position. Every couple of weeks, you will replace each aligner tray with the next aligner in the series, which will pick up where the last one left off and push your teeth a little further toward your goal.

In most cases, you will simply need to continue this process until your treatment is completed to your dentist’s satisfaction (and yours too). The average Invisalign patient needs 12 months (give or take) to complete the process. Remember this is about half the time needed for the typical patient who is wearing braces to reach the same end goal.

While Invisalign is much easier than straightening things out the old-fashioned way, there is still work required of you. To ensure the best results, you’ll need to wear the aligners for 22 hours each day. The nice thing is that you can remove them to eat and to nurture your oral hygiene habits (i.e., brushing and flossing your teeth). So, there won’t be any dietary restrictions or special tools required. And when they are in, they won’t cause any pain or intrude on your daily life.

Invisalign Is Nearly Invisible

Many patients tell us that the biggest advantage that Invisalign has over braces is their nearly invisible status. These removable transparent plastic aligners are easy for others to overlook. But when you have brackets and wires permanently affixed to your teeth, there’s really no way to hide that from the people that you meet or have to do business with. We wholeheartedly agree that this sort of invisibility afforded by Invisalign is a great thing for awkward teenagers and for working professionals alike.

Invisalign Is A Versatile Solution

If you have been plagued by unseemly orthodontic issues for far too long, there’s a pretty good chance that Invisalign can deliver the help you need. We have found that this system can work on many different kinds of alignment problems, including gaps between your teeth, crooked teeth, overbites and underbites, open bites, and more.
